What Size Storage Unit Do I Need?

Storage units come in a variety of shapes and sizes—at Store N Save, we offer about 30 different options—and choosing the right one for your needs can be a little challenging in some cases. You certainly don’t want to pay for more room than you actually need, but you also want to make sure everything you’re going to store will fit when all is said and done.

How much space you need ultimately comes down to what you intend to store. Specifically, what are the dimensions of the items you will put in the unit? Are they stackable? Do they fit well together? One of our trainer storage specialists can help you narrow down a size range that will work for you either in person or over the phone. The best way to find the ideal size is to stop by to meet one of our storage specialists to determine what size storage unit that will best meet your needs. If most or all of your items fit neatly into boxes and none of them are very fragile, you will likely be able to use a unit in the 25 to 75 sq ft range. If, however, you have a lot of irregularly-shaped furniture and appliances to place in your unit, you’ll probably need at least 150 sq ft.

The quantity of your belongings is also important. The amount of stuff one might typically find in a 1-bedroom apartment will probably fit in a 100 sq ft storage space. However, if you’re moving out of a 4-bedroom house, you’ll probably want to have closer to 250 sq ft of space.

In the end, the best way to determine your storage requirements is to make a list of the items you need to store. We will be able to help you choose a unit that meets your needs, so you will only end up paying for the space you actually use.
